Leadership Profile
Founder & Cheif Director
Teshale Tamiru Warkesa
Biography & Background
Born into an impoverished family in a remote rural village, Teshale Tamiru’s early life was defined by extreme hardship. His parents labored tirelessly in the fields of neighboring farmers just to secure enough money to send him to school. Resources were so scarce that Teshale had to stretch a single notebook across two subject. Having endured the acute pain of childhood hunger, he held onto a clear dream: to rise above poverty and dedicate his life to helping others who suffered as he had.
Driven by this vision, Teshale moved to Nekemte to live with his brother, who was supporting himself as a shoe cleaner. While continuing his education, Teshale took on various manual jobs to pay his own way. Over time, as his brother’s situation improved and he opened an electronics repair shop, Teshale joined him, acquiring skills that enabled him to earn a steady income and financially support his family. Through resilience and hard work, he broke the cycle of poverty.
In 2022, Teshale connected with Lalisa Abera, a compassionate young man who shared his mission. Together, they began organizing an online community on social media to rally support for orphans, individuals with disabilities, and families facing severe hardship. What began as a social media initiative grew into the Atis Nama Foundation, a charitable organization that now serves communities across Oromia.
Today, at 26 years old, Teshale holds degrees in Management Information Systems from New Generation University College and Theology from Leadstar Christian College. Serving as the Founder and Chief Director of the Atis Nama Foundation, he continues to turn his childhood struggles into hope for thousands of people in need
