Support to people with disabilities
Providing trade skills training, commercial equipment grants, women's savings circles, and Saturday elder community kitchens.
About this program
Sustainable dignity begins with reliable household income. Handouts provide short-term relief, but practical trade skills and productive machinery enable families to support themselves permanently. Our Livelihoods Program trains unemployed youth and female heads of household in high-demand trades like tailoring, garment construction, carpentry, and urban food processing. Upon graduation, trainees receive physical commercial tools—such as industrial sewing machines and carpentry toolsets—instead of cash loans, enabling them to launch small enterprises immediately. Alongside enterprise support, our weekly elder dining program serves warm, nutritious meals of injera and stew every Saturday to isolated seniors in Addis Ababa and Nekemte.
“I used to struggle day to day doing casual labor with no stability. After graduating from the tailoring training and receiving a sewing machine, I now run my own workshop and provide for my children.”
— Hirut Bekele, Micro-Enterprise Owner in Nekemte
